Doctor-to-doctor service from Ruksun

DOCTORANYWHERE.COM, India's first Internet-based doctor-to-doctor consultation service, has been launched by the Pune-based Ruksun Pvt Ltd. This is a spin-off of Ruksun Software Technologies Pvt Ltd, said Mr. Chetan Shetty, Chief Executive Officer, Ruksun

Briefing presspersons, he said the business-to-business e-commerce venture offered medical practitioners requiring an expert opinion, access to medical super-specialists across the country.

Initially, would offer the services of cardiologists and would later extend it to gastroentrologists and radiologists. Neurologists' services would be added by April 1.

Currently 80 cardiologists's services were on the site, he said. Two hospitals have offered voluntary services of cardiologists who are on call 24 hours a day.

Once a doctor subscribes to the site, he/she would be required to pay a subscription fee of Rs. 5,000 and an advance on consultation fee which would be debited every time a consultation is done. The company would generate revenues by charging 15 per cent of the transaction fee for every consultation made.

The company has set up a dealer network in Gujarat, Maharashtra and the four Southern states to handle financial transactions and has also invited dealers from New Delhi to look at the Northern markets. Mr. Shetty said the company was targeting 2,000 consultants and 20,000 subscribers for the service by the end of this year. It also plans to rope in specialists across the globe within the next couple of years.

Ruksun has completed the first round of funding from Net Ventures, the Internet fund of Alchemy Ventures, for a 29 per cent stake in the company. The primary shareholders are Ruksun Software Technologies and its employees. Mr. Shetty said the company would be going for a second round of funding and was also mulling an IPO or a Nasdaq listing.
